Interactive Training Aid / RD Floating Screed Floors

You will no doubt be aware that as part of the agreement allowing theRDL Schemeto be used, RDL is required to monitor the construction of a sample of Robust Details. This involves visual inspection and acoustic testing on a percentage of plots registered. As a result of this monitoring RDL identified a need to provide further clarity and guidance on the construction of Precast Concrete Slab, resilient layer(s) and floating screed Separating Floors.

This interactive training aid identifies key areas for attention in the design and construction of Precast Concrete Slab, resilient layer(s) and floating screed Separating Floors.

Practice Notes

The Part E Robust Details Practice Notes are intended to be a mechanism for feeding back the Inspectorate's observations to the industry as a whole. In adopting the use of Part E Robust Details, organisations should ensure that all relevant requirements of the Robust Details Part E Handbook are strictly followed.

This first Practice Note looks at a common issue that the Inspectors have identified with the Part E Robust Detail cavity masonry walls - cavities being bridged by mortar and debris.
