Two new Robust Detail separating floors have successfully completed the candidate robust detail process

21 July, 2010

Two new Robust Detail separating floors have successfully completed the candidate robust detail process and are now available to be registered with Robust Details Ltd;

E-FC-13 – Separating Floor -Concrete – Floating screed applied to InstaCoustic’s Instalay 65 system on precast planks

This floor can be used to claim 3 credits under the EcoHomes scheme and 1 credit under the Code for Sustainable Homes.

E-FT-6 – Separating Floor -Timber – Cellecta’s ScreedBoard 28® floating floor on metal web joists

This floor has been allocated 1 credit under the Code for Sustainable Homes for airborne performance only. Therefore, flats on top of the floor (usually just those on the uppermost storey) can be eligible for the credit; whereas those directly below the floor, where impact performance is relevant, will not be able to meet the criteria for Code credits under the RD scheme.

Please see our website for further information on this and the EcoHomes credit allocations.

Also, a totally new product has been added to Appendix 3 of the Handbook. The Insumate insulation tray is an innovative way of retaining insulation between timber joists before the ceiling lining is fitted, and it can be used with the Robust Details timber floors indicated in Table 7 in the Introduction to the Handbook.

Further updates to the Handbook comprise;

  • E-FC-5 can now incorporate the use of proprietary screed
  • The gypsum board lining specification for the Smartroof spandrel panels has been amended
  • E-WM-12 can now be used in conjunction with E-FC-4
  • Thin-joint aircrete walls E-WM-10 and E-WM-13 can be used in combination with all floors that previously permitted the standard joint wall E-WM-6
