Your Feedback
The RDL Scheme should improve sound insulation between attached new homes but it does not change or add to the existing provisions for handling complaints or queries. If you have bought a new home and are dissatisfied with the sound insulation of your separating walls or floors, RDL would be pleased to offer you advice about the various courses of action available to you.
Normally, your first step should be to report your concerns in writing to the builder. Nowadays, almost all new homes are covered by a warranty. Contact the new home warranty provider if, after a realistic period of time, the builder doesn't respond or your reasonable concerns are not resolved. If the two-year warranty period hasn't expired, the warranty provider may investigate and take action to ensure that any breach of Building Regulations is rectified.
If you or a third party, such as the new home warranty provider or Building Control Body carries out a sound test on a separating wall or floor built to a Robust Detail, we would be pleased to receive a copy of the results in order to help us monitor the overall performance of Robust Details. We advise that any measurement contractors employed to carry out sound testing should be accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) or registered with the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC).
