New Robust Detail Launched / E-FC-5
13 January, 2006Robust Details Limited (RDL) is pleased to announce the launch of a new proprietary Robust Detail from Cellecta. YELOfon HD10+ System is available for immediate use to house builders across England and Wales.
The Robust Details Scheme has been established as an alternative to pre-completion testing (PCT) to ensure that all new homes built using robust details meet and exceed the current Part E Building Regulations.
Cellecta, specialist in thermal and acoustic insulation solutions, is the latest company to be awarded proprietary Robust Detail status (E-FC-5) for use on precast concrete plank floors covered with a sand-cement floating screed. The availability of this new Robust Detail increases the choice of patterns available to house builders without the need for often costly and time consuming PCT.
Dave Baker, Chief Executive of RDL, says; "RDL is delighted to approve Cellecta’s E FC-5 precast concrete plank floor. This latest detail provides the house building industry with an additional option for separating floor constructions, making Robust Details an even more attractive proposition for developers across England and Wales. This is fantastic news for the industry and we would like to encourage other suppliers to come forward with their ideas."
Andrew Fry, Managing Director of Cellecta, adds; “YELOfon HD10+'s proprietary Robust Details status demonstrates how Cellecta’s continued commitment to innovative product development has resulted in a low cost, easy to install system for separating floors covered with screed. Combined with our existing products, we can now offer our customers an unrivalled range of proven acoustic solutions."
Cellecta’s insulation products are available through a nationwide network of distributors. For further details, please visit the website www.cellecta.co.uk. The updated Robust Details Handbook ‘Robust Details Part E – Resistance to the Passage of Sound’, now contains 21 Robust Details. It also includes new options on some of the original Robust Details, which have been added after feedback from the house building industry and field testing of new properties since the Robust Details Handbook was printed.
RDL expects to publish more robust details later in the year, providing house builders and technical directors with more options on separating structures for the future.

Notes to Editors
Cellecta is one of the UK’s largest producers of environmentally friendly high performance insulation and associated products. Cellecta specialises in producing bespoke thermal and acoustic insulation solutions tailored to the customer’s specific requirements. With its production facility, technical office and national distribution centre situated in one location, Cellecta’s team of experienced staff is able to offer unrivalled customer support, from assistance in selecting the most suitable product that satisfies current legislation to delivering the right materials direct to site on time.
RDL is an independent company established to implement the new ‘Robust Detail’ alternative to mandatory pre-completion sound testing for new homes, under the provisions of the Building Regulations. It is the only organisation able to approve and manage the use of robust details for Part E of the Building Regulations (in England and Wales).
By monitoring the performance of Robust Details, RDL helps the industry to improve the sound-insulation performance of separating walls and floors in new homes. Home buyers can therefore be confident that their new homes will have better sound insulation than legally required, and house builders can avoid expensive pre completion testing and any uncertainty and costs involved in rectifying new dwellings which fail sound-proofing tests.
