Linear Thermal Bridging - Accredited Construction Details
16 February, 2011Constructive Details Ltd (CDL) is a joint venture set up between Robust Details Ltd and the British Board of Agrément to offer a solution to the thermal bridging issues raised by Part L of the Building Regulations 2010 (England and Wales). It will, once the government gives approval, offer a range of details that may be chosen by the builder to enable the calculated Ψ-values for such junctions to be used directly in SAP calculations without the 25% penalty otherwise required by the new Regulation being imposed.
CDL has co-operated in the drafting of a Scheme Operating Document defining the process and this has been supplied to CLG for approval. It is likely that CLG will circulate this document for comment and the timescales for this are currently unclear, but it is intended that the scheme will be in place in good time to allow details to be available for selection by builders prior to CLG removing the amnesty on the 25% correction currently in place.
