Plot Registration

To use Robust Details as an alternative to pre-completion sound testing:

  • Register each plot with RDL
  • Give the Building Control Body a Robust Details Purchase Statement relating to the plot(s) before you start work
  • Construct separating walls and floors strictly in accordance with the relevant Robust Detail specifications.

Step 1

Decide which Robust Detail(s) you are going to use. The Robust Details Handbook contains details of all the available Robust Details.

Step 2

Complete the Registration Form and send it to us with the correct payment of £30+VAT per plot.

Step 3

Once we have received your completed Registration Form and payment, we will allocate a unique registration number to each plot and send you the following documents:

Step 4

Pass one copy of the Purchase Statement to the Building Control Body (Local Authority or Approved Inspector). The Purchase Statement should be submitted before starting building work on the plot(s), preferably with your building control application.

Important note: If the Building Control Body receives the purchase statement, you will not be required to conduct pre-completion sound testing on the home(s), providing the building work complies with the relevant Robust Detail(s). If the Building Control Body does not receive a purchase statement, it will require you to carry out pre-completion sound testing irrespective of whether the building work has been completed in accordance with the relevant Robust Detail(s).

Step 5

Sign the Compliance Certificate for each home as soon as the Robust Detail work is completed and make available to the Building Control Body if requested.
