The Results
The Government's broad target for acoustic standards introduced in 2002 was to achieve 95% compliance within 10 years. Reinforcing its commitment to ensuring exceptional standards of sound insulation in new homes across England and Wales, RDL exceeded this target within three years and continues to do so.
The Inspectorate has generally found high levels of adherence to the published RDs and the results to date are extremely encouraging. We consistently find that over 97% of tests meet or exceed Requirement E1 of the Building Regulations.
Investigations on structures that have failed to meet the Building Regulations performance standards have, in all cases, identified significant deviations from the RD specification.
