Feedback To Industry

RDL records and categorises the causes of red visual inspection and sound test results. RDL uses the information to determine whether further intervention is necessary to avoid repeat error on other sites. Such activity involves regular communication with suppliers, users, BCBs and technical journalists. RDL uses varying channels of communication according to the audience and message to be communicated: face-to-face meetings, direct mail, press releases, online, technical presentations, seminars and workshops.

For example, as a result of the monitoring RDL identified a need to provide further clarity and guidance on the construction of Precast Concrete Slab, resilient layer(s) and floating screed Separating Floors. An interactive training aid has now been developed. This identifies key areas for attention in the design and construction of Precast Concrete Slab, resilient layer(s) and floating screed Separating Floors. View Taining Aid Now

Please note: to use the training aid you will need to have Macromedia Flash Player 7 or later installed on your computer. You can download and install it 'free of charge' from the Adobe Macromedia website.

Another example is the Practice Notes. These are intended to be a mechanism for feeding back the Inspectorate's observations to the industry as a whole.

The first Practice Note looks at a common issue that the Inspectors have identified with the cavity masonry walls - cavities being bridged by mortar and debris. Download / View Practice Note 1 Now
