Amendment to E-WM-8 to incorporate integral flues
Test evidence on E-WM-8 separating wall structures incorporating integral flues has been assessed by Robust Details Ltd (RDL).
RDL is pleased to confirm that it will now be acceptable to use integral flues in E-WM-8 separating walls with immediate effect.
Artwork for the current update to the Robust Details Handbook has been completed but revisions will be made in a future update.
With regard to revising the published detail, it is proposed to:
- remove the section of text to the front page which currently indicates that flues should not be integrated within the separating wall
- introduce a new section into E-WM-8. Detail 9 will show 'Flue blocks built into separating wall'. This will be based on those details currently included in the Robust Details Handbook against cavity masonry separating walls where integrated flues are already permitted.
RDL has a number of solutions that attract credits under the code for sustainable homes. Following the latest review of performance monitoring results against CSH performance requirements RDL is also pleased to announce that E-WM-8 now attracts CSH credits.
