UKAS Accreditation
Robust Details Limited is a UKAS accredited certification body no. 4171.
Our accreditation covers the Robust Details Sound Insulation Certification Scheme for new attached homes as an alternative to pre-completion sound insulation testing for satisfying Requirement E1 in Schedule 1 of the Building Regulations (England & Wales).
In principle, the scheme involves:
- Approving and issuing Robust Detail separating wall and floor specifications which are capable of exceeding the performance standards set out in Approved Document E of the Building Regulations. These specifications are the scheme standards and are published in the Robust Details Handbook.
- Setting and achieving targets for the performance of built Robust Details. These are published in our quality policy document.
- Providing a way of integrating the use of Robust Details with the building control system. We do this by registering every dwelling which uses Robust Details instead of pre-completion testing (PCT) and certifying the use of valid Robust Details in stated dwellings. We give each registered dwelling a unique reference number. The certificate is passed to building control by the developer as evidence that PCT is not required.
- Monitoring the performance of built Robust Details to measure our success in achieving our targets. You can see a summary of our success rate here.
- Providing information, training and feedback to the house-building industry and government.
